Consultation with Organizations

If you are a school, hospital, community organization, or service that supports children and families, the children under your care are likely to experience illness, death, dying, or grief at some point. When a death or serious illness impacts a community, staff may find themselves wondering how to respond, what to say, and how to best support grieving children and families.

I provide consultation to organizations seeking developmentally informed, compassionate approaches to supporting children and adolescents through grief. I have worked with schools, hospitals, fire departments, and nonprofit organizations to provide:

  • Staff training on children’s grief, developmentally appropriate responses, and ways to support grieving children and families

  • Workshops for parents and caregivers to help them better understand and respond to children’s grief

  • Group interventions for children and teenagers who have experienced illness, death, or loss

  • Consultation following a death or critical event to help staff consider how to communicate with children, respond to emotional and behavioral needs, and support the larger community
